_SCAPE
_SCAPE is a short video, which explored the digital expression of my feelings and thoughts. The video expresses my mixed feeling towards two countries I have lived in the time - Japan and Finland. Love for the energetic vibe and relaxing nature, hate for a stressful busy noisy environment, surreal feeling of experiencing two drastically different cities, longing for my home country, stating the importance of balance, or wanting to balance.
Psychedelic colors will take the audience away from reality, dragging the attention to the screen. The interpretation of the video is totally up to the audience.
The video effects were created with TouchDesigner and the ambient background noise was created with recorded sounds and music mixed with Ableton.
The practice aimed to have a comprehensive strategy and proposal on the possible location to showcase the work. I have chosen a university classroom, which has several screens to play the video from a multi-angle, which enhances the surreal feeling that allows the audience to trance into another dimension. The second location I chose was the famous Shibuya Crossings in Japan because it matches the topic of the video and also as questioning the status-quo of the scarcity of video art as public art, but those public displays are only used for commercial.
